Looks like Emery is history..
Sens GM Murray says he does not plan to have goalie Emery back next season Canadian Press Apr 18, 2008, 2:00 PM EDT OTTAWA - It looks like goaltender Ray Emery has played his last game for the Ottawa Senators.
General manager and head coach Bryan Murray says he does not plan to have Emery back next season. Murray met the media today along with owner Eugene Melnyk and president Roy Mlakar. The 25-year-old Emery, who still has two years and US$6.75 million left on his contract, was a distraction at times this season.
He admitted this week he should have handled things differently earlier in the season when he was upset at losing the starting role to Martin Gerber.
The Senators lost their first-round NHL playoff series to the Pittsburgh Penguins in four straight games.

"I don't take responsibilty for the team losing in the playoffs I can tell you that much," Emery told reporters Thursday as the team cleaned out their lockers.
I guess we know his opinion on things.......but he wants to stay on the team...go figure.

The Sens losing the round shouldn't be put squarely on Emery's shoulders, I have to agree w/ him on most of that. Sure, he may be a cancer but losing was a team effort, esp. by the players on the ice who didn't show up.
We'll see what they do after Emery's gone...
I wonder what their excuse will be after that happens...

Oh I agree he shouldn't be to blame but I can't believe that he spoke that thought out loud to the press and then said he wants to stay on the team.

Oh gosh, how funny would it be to see him and Torts together. Wonder who would kill who first.

Well, if you're sending Emery to the Bolts can we have Smitty? Pretty please???

Do you really think Torts will be around much longer? I know he had another year on his contract, but there have not been any moves to renegotiate so I figure his head is on the chopping block. But that being said, maybe Emery wouldn't be a bad choice for the bolts.....at least he would have the nuts to tell Torts off.

SERIOUSLY!!! And attitude aside, he's a damned good goaltender. Perfect scenario would be for him to tell Torts off, management backup Emery and get rid of Torts and the Bolts start winning some games.....finishing second in the SE behind the Canes of course!! And Smitty comes to split time with Cam. If I can't have Johnny on our bench keeping our goaltending duo beautiful at least let me have my Smitty!

I think Emery + Torts would make Tampa a bigger Soap Opera than it already is.
