There were many rumors floating around last summer too about the players not liking Therrien and they eventually came to be so much that one just has to know there's truth to them. Personally, I've never been all that impressed with him either, but have often thought the Penguins players are coaching themselves and Therrien has little to do with their successes. I guess we'll have to sit back and see what happens.

The one thing I noticed about his coaching was something during the finals. Usually, when you're playing a team in the playoffs, you can watch some tape to see how they play and learn how to adapt to it. It was VERY obvious that the Pens did no such thing. Every game they lost was because they had not adapted to the Wings's style of play. The Wings cut off the Pens in the neutral zone and the way they play defense doesn't allow the "dump and chase" tactic to work. The Pens never seemed to pick up on that. maybe Eric needs to start talking to his little brother about how wonderful it is to play for the Hurricanes! I got to thinking about this comment as I was trying to go to sleep last night. As much as I would LOVE to see Jordan wearing the sightless eye, he isn't what we need right now. I'd rather see the money we have be spent rebuilding our shattered defense. With Hedican and Wesley retiring, and Gleason being a pain in the ass about a contract, we are going to need some SERIOUS help back there. Defense takes priority. Jordan can sign here later.

What kind of contract is Jordan under btw.. anybody know? I read earlier in the playoffs about his contract and now I can't find it. I think his contract is up next season.....but don't quote me on that. I think he just has an entry level contract.

Jordan has one year left on his contract then he becomes a restricted free agent next summer. He makes 850,000 right now.
The Pens could be in a world of hurt if most of their players feel the same way Orpik does. There are a TON of UFAs on that team.
Roberts Malone Hossa Laraque Ruutu Hall Beech Taffe Dupuis Smith Conner Eaton Orpik Nasraddine Lannon Conklin
Add in Fleury as an RFA that if the Pens don't get locked up could be quiet attractive to offer sheets and they could be looking for an entire new team.

The Pens would basically cease to exist as a team!

I think if Therrien stays(because apparantly Sid likes him), Jordan will end up in one of three places, through the meddling of my dear Mark Recchi.
Montreal. Philadelphia. Carolina.
Montreal: Mark is great friends with Koivu, has some great connections there. Philadelphia: Mark had some great years there, and he knows that though the fans are demanding, they keep coming. Good fans to play *for*. Carolina: JWill and Brindy are in Carolina. Mark knows and likes playing with both of them. He'd probably trust Brindy with his pet Penguin. Hockey is growing in NC, and Jordan could bring some more star power.
We'll see. With Brindy's recent injuries, he ought to take a step back, leaving us open for a number one center. (before you say Eric is our #1 center, consider his face-off abilities. He'd be an AMAZING left wing) Jordan has the ability to do that. But how Eric would handle that, I'm not sure.

Jordan > Eric when it comes to faceoffs, no question about it.
But like I stated previously, our money needs to be spent building a defense. We have plenty of offensive firepower right now.

www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/54677So I found this rather interesting. Not about Jagr...with all the talk of him going to Russia, I kinda expected it. But the Avery part....I wonder what Slats is thinking/planning. Does he have something up his sleeve or is he tired of his antics too?? This could be an interesting week-end.

Ok this one just needs to go far far away.. but I wanted to post it anyway for you gals. Quote: I spoke with a source today that confirmed for me that Carolina has had very serious discussions with Minnesota about aquiring Marian Gaborik. The Hurricanes feel that Staal and Gaborik could be one of the most lethal combinations in the NHL. The rumour I have heard would send Justin Williams, F. Kaberle, prospect Jamie Mcbain and a 1st round draft pick to Minnesota for Marian Gaborik and something else to be determined. The Wild continue to shop Gaborik around the NHL, as Gaborik has made it clear to management that he intends to move on to a more offense-minding team after his contract runs out following this season. The Wild would prefer to trade him prior to the start of the season.
