Congrats to team USA and Timmay on their first win today. WTF is NBC showing me freaking Curling instead of team Canada and Staaly playing hockey? GRRRR

Waaaay late, but always check the other channels. They showed the last ten minutes of the first on MSNBC before switching the rest of the came to CNBC after curling finished.

Congrats to team USA and Timmay on their first win today. WTF is NBC showing me freaking Curling instead of team Canada and Staaly playing hockey? GRRRR Happy Dance for Ryan Malone and his goal! And curling, I decided after trying to watch some of it yesterday waiting for the game, that it is going to take a lot of alcohol for me to sit there and try to watch that again.

Curling is a very odd sport isn't it? It reminds me of playing boccie ball. Somehow I wound up finding myself sucked into it though. LOL Thanks for the tip on the channels mslarose. Apparently I wasn't surfing them enough.

I like watching curling but it took me quite a few years to get into it and understand it. I am really liking the snowboarding. Team Canada gave us a scare last night against Sweden.....they better pull it together or they will be done early with no medal.

What is it with curling and their infinity long time outs? I've been watching the hockey games when I can and NBC always cuts into the middle or end of the first period because curling took so long. The reason it takes so long are those blasted time outs! I realize it's a strategy type of game but taking time outs that last for 5 minutes or so drags things out way too long.
As for what teams I'm rooting for, it's the underdog ones. Teams like Russia, US and Canada (as well as Sweden and Finland) are loaded with top level NHL talent and they just walk all over the lower tier teams. I was so delighted to see Norway give Canada fits during their match up. I love Team Canada and was glad they won (I really wish i was a Canadian <G>) but it was so good to see them actually have to sweat out the game for a change. And when Russia got beat? I loved it!

I was wondering the same thing Khabi about the Curling time outs.. I mean it's not like it's an overly physical sport, then again what I know about Curling could fit in a thimble! LOL..
Staal vs Timmy tonight.. I don't know that my nerves can take it but I'm really looking forward to seeing the two teams play each other.

What an absolutely phenomenal hockey game! Although I started out the game quite torn watching Staal vs Gleason it didn't take long before I found myself pulling for USA all the way. Ryan Miller was stellar and poor Brodeur not so much... I did love seeing Staal throwing those big hits out there and I hope he brings some of that energy back home with him to Raleigh. I was sorry to see Finland take the loss and Joni get ejected from the game. I wonder if there will be any further action taken against him for that hit?

1 game suspension for Joni, so he misses the quarterfinal game against the Latvia/Czech Rep winner.
I was not torn at all about Timmy vs. Eric. Nor will I be torn should Timmy go up against Tuomo/Joni should the US and Finland make it to the semis.

Stupid Joni! The team is going to miss him.
Well.. DG I knew you wouldn't be torn up..LOL.. but I can't help it.. it's just odd seeing my guys playing against each other.. I got over it pretty quickly as I'm sure I would if a semi of US and Finland were to happen.

I was with ya, CG. My heart lies with the US but I still want our other guys to do well, individually. So last night was pretty great for me- USA won (woohoo!), Staaly had a good game, and Princess was a skittish little cat. LOL I never ever thought I'd be pulling that hard for Ryan Miller in my life.
Haven't seen the Joni hit yet, but it doesn't surprise me. He can be way too hotheaded in the worst moments.
