Although I suppose it was nice that his parents were there. I'd still like his head on a platter about now. edited because vino and internet don't mix!!!

Well well well.. that game was a perfect example of why I was so worried about drawing the Pens in the third round. They are making our D look invisible, forcing us to play truly stupid and as of right now appear to own Cam Ward. The only thing to do is erase it from my memory bank and move on to Saturday where they will be home with their awesome seventh man crowd behind them. I presume Bayda will have to meet with the NHL and now faces suspension? *sigh* Oh and can somebody please go find Eric Staal? Thankies.

Ok, so does everyone understand why I hate Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby? I'm so tired of every time someone touches him, he throws the head back and embellishes the hit or when he got that penalty called on him, he kept shaking his hand trying to get matching calls. AND, I though the announcers on Versus were supposed to be neutral. If that wasn't a Pittsburgh love fest. I'm going to count how many times they show Crosby's ugly face they next game. There are other players on that team! Show us Jordan Staal. They can do a Jordan/Eric cameo and see what they're doing. Please??
Oh and on Malkin, during the Flyers/Pens series someone on the Philly.com Flyers Forum called Malkin a "Chernobyl Baby". I know that's horrible but it made me laugh and during the Washington series, I kept saying one game "Why do they keep showing this ugly woman in this red coat?" Until I realized it was his mother...lol...my bad.

Some good words to hear from our boys after last night. Now let's see if that can translate for the game tomorrow night. Great to hear Ruu is going to take the morning skate tomorrow too!
Quote:
Off Ice, Canes Come to Ward's Defense
There’s no question that the Canes allowed more goals than they would have liked in the first two games of their series with Pittsburgh – 10 in the first two games, to be exact – but they were nonetheless quick to stand up for their goaltender the morning after Game 2.
Cam Ward allowed a season-high six goals in the 7-4 loss, with the final Penguins tally going into an empty net. The last time six pucks got past him was in a 6-1 loss to New Jersey on February 9, 2008.
Although he wasn’t at his sharpest, however, the score doesn’t tell the entire story.
“It’s more about what’s in front of him,” said defenseman Tim Gleason. “We haven’t had to worry about him all year, and we know that he’s going to be there every single night.”
“He’s our rock, and he’s one of the best goalies in the world,” said Eric Staal. “There might be a few he would have liked to have, but there are a few I would have like to go into the net too.”
At a team meeting held around noon Friday in lieu of practice, the focus will instead be on trying to get better defensively and limit the Penguins’ offensive chances. It’s a tall order against world-class players like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, but the Canes still know they can do more.
“It’s not effort – we’re talking about two of the best three players in the world,” said Ray Whitney. “The opportunities they got were all avoidable, and there were mistakes by two or three different players.”
“We gave up golden opportunities to superstar players,” said Chad LaRose.
No matter what, those players will get their chances. As last night showed, they are too good not to. Although Ward has come through with huge saves to bail the team out in the past when they couldn’t have expected him to and should continue to do so, they know they’ll have to give him some help if they are to continue much further in this series.
“Standing on his head – that’s asking too much,” said Rod Brind’Amour. “Every once in a while we need big saves, but we can’t ask that every night.”
On the injury front, Coach Paul Maurice said that he was pleased with Erik Cole’s performance last night, during which he played through the pain caused by his collision with Matt Cooke in Game 1. He’s expected to suit up as normal tomorrow.
The other casualty from the series opener, Tuomo Ruutu, will take the morning skate tomorrow, during which a further evaluation will be made on his lower body injury. Expect him to be a game-time decision once again on Saturday night.

If the hockey gods decide to have the Wings and Pens in the SCF, you know the Wings will make sure that Sid gets taken down the hard way. And Malkin too.

That would almost make it worth it... almost. I think what is bugging me the most is that all the talking heads already have us out of this series and all the Pens fandom is already counting on their match up with the Wings. If that DOES come to pass everyone will be saying "I told you so.. the Canes just weren't up to the challenge and their wins in the first two rounds were just luck".. blah blah blah... our team worked damn hard to get here and none of it was easy and none of it was damn luck and I would just hate for them to have to hear and read all that crap in the aftermath. *steps off soapbox*.. lol

You know the player that finally does it will probably get suspended.

I was so hoping that the Washington Capitals were the team to do that. Same with the Red Wings, I liked 2006 when the Oilers knocked them out in the first round. I've heard really good things about the Canes from the guys on XM's Home Ice. I listen to it everyday on the way to and from work, The War Room, In The Slot. Also, today on Spots Center Barry Melrose was saying don't count the Hurricanes out. That they know how to fight back and you can never count them out. he talked about how everyone thought they wouldn't make it past the first round and then they showed highlights of the NJ and Bruins series.
