Todays update on Ruu and Erik. The good news is if we are hearing the truth neither injury sounds as bad as it could have been.
Quote: Maurice: Cole, Ruutu 'day to day'

PITTSBURGH — Officially, the status of forwards Erik Cole and Tuomo Ruutu for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals is "day to day" and a "game-time decision."
That's what Canes coach Paul Maurice said today after the team practice at Mellon Arena.
But the word from the Hurricanes camp is that Ruutu will not play against the Penguins on Thursday night and there's a chance Cole could. Ruutu suffered an injured right ankle and Cole still feeling the effects from his knee-to-knee hit from the Penguins Matt Cooke in Game 1.
"We'll make an assessment tomorrow morning," Maurice said. "They may skate and they may not. We'll let our trainer (Pete Friesen) make that decision for them and then they'll both be game-time decisions. "It could have been worse, I guess. We move forward positively."

While I desperately want to see them play, I wonder if it would be better for both to sit one more game and play game three at the RBC.

Yea, that might be a good idea. I heard Ruutu has a high ankle sprain. I hope not that takes too long to heal.

I get to keep calling TellMe to get scores tonight. [Ya'll know about that, right?]
I love my job, but I hate that I'm missing important games.

It's a nifty little phone number that you can call any time day or night to get scores in any sport.
1-800-555-8355
Yes, it's a 555 number. I lol'd when I got it.
Anyway, call that, say 'Sports', 'NHL', then whatever team you want and it should give you scores.

Cross your fingers, pray, whatever you do, lol - that it is NOT a high ankle sprain. Depending on how bad they are, those can take MONTHS to recover from, especially to 100%. I saw an article earlier (don't remember where, I've skimmed a lot today) that they don't think it is and are hopeful for Saturday for Tuomo. I just hope they're not pushing Cole. He needs to be at least 95% out there. I am happy for sweet Patty D though!
