The Canes have never gotten the respect they deserve, IMO. Even during the 2006 run, we were poo-pooed as just being lucky, or the changes after the lock out, etc. Very few gave credit to the guys working hard and taking the damage that the SCF does to the players. It was all "luck". Same thing today. The Canes were just lucky beating Boston and NJ. If you're not one of the favored teams (you know, one of the original 6 teams or the one with a boatload of superstars) and you manage to win the games and clinch the series, you're "lucky".

I'm glad I'm going to this one, but gah, I'm going to be so nervous and sitting there having a mental breakdown. Oh well, for the love of the game. I wish I knew some tailgaiting people, but I don't and have never really tailgaited...supposed to be 85 today. That's some Carolina Hurricanes Hockey weather. The pool opens today too. Today is going to be a good day, hopefully. And I might get to drive home from the game finally because I can now drive after nine. Woo.

Have fun at the game, Jazz, once you're there you will get into it. I know I've bitten my nails down to nothing at a few hockey games because of nerves. Enjoy the pool and if you do get to drive, be careful, getting out of those crowds can be crazy, no one seems to let you out and you have to fight everyone. Let's go boys!! I know you can do it!!!

Hey ladies, has anyone noticed that whatever happens in the West seems to happen out in the East as well?
Detroit wins, Pittsburgh wins. It happened like that for both of the first two games.
Well, Chicago won last night.
... just sayin'.

I hadn't really thought about that Mel but you're right. Hopefully! LOL DG mentioned to me the other day that she thought something was going on with Cam and apparently she was correct! From Forslund: Cam Ward...Paul Maurice mentioned on talk radio yesterday that Ward's health was not one hundred percent for game two. Yes, that's true. As a matter of fact he had to fight his way through a malady like many do this time of the year. There is no question that he has had a bit of a struggle through the first two games of this series. He will as he always does bring out his best tonight and then should the Canes accomplish what they set out to do, welcome a two day break.
*fingers crossed he is over the worst of it*

Mel....I like how you think!!!!!
I hope said malady is nothing more than a little flu and not something worse.

Well, that is the same thing they said about Khabi. he either has a lower body injury or he was battling the flu. They both played very uncharacteristic of what they have been playing. I hope Cam is ok and back to form tonight.

God, I f'ing hate Pittsburgh or I hate how the league treats them. I knew the Canes penalty minutes would go up once they played this team. You can't do anything to this team without getting called for it.

You can't do anything to this team without getting called for it. I spent plenty of time cussing about this tonight....Canes being one of the absolute least penalized teams in the league, but the officiating during this series portrays them as a bunch of f-ing goons. It was even pointed out that Cooke saw Corvo's leg out and intentionally "tripped" over it. I seriously was LMAO at Malking hitting Cullen and coming out worse for wear.

... someone tell the boys to go dust off their golf clubs.
They don't want to play anymore. They showed us that tonight.

Do you think Chara's mauling of Eric Staal in the last series caused an injury? He looks like he is really struggling. What's up with Brind'Amour? He has done nothing in this series.
Did anyone hear the announcers say"Did Pitkanen leave his brain somewhere?" He used to do that in Philly, that's why everyone wanted him gone.

Do you think Chara's mauling of Eric Staal in the last series caused an injury? He looks like he is really struggling. No, Staal just proved to us that he only shows up against teams that are doing terribly [cue his four goal game against Tampa Bay and three goals and an assist against the Islanders] and that he goes MIA when we need him the most [this series, for example, he has one assist in three games]. I'm seriously getting sick of him and this crap of his.

I don't see Cole stepping up to help out either, Jaysta. Or Whitney. Or even our sweet Cap'n. Yes, Staal needs to turn off his invisibility cloak, but so do the other forwards. It's been said repeatedly on the Canes Forum frequently that all of them need to step up and earn their pay.
That was a heart breaker of a game to listen to (don't have versus). My thoughts are that the games against Boston and NJ really leached the strength and energy out of them. Our guys are wearing out, some are no doubt playing through injuries. Then when they do start pulling it together, one of our guys sneeze in the east end of the rink, Sid takes a dive in the west end and we're in the penalty box. (Yes, I know that's exaggerating, but it sure feels like the calls are one-sided). It's hard to play offensive hockey when you're constantly having to play defense while killing a penalty.
I don't know how this series will end, but no matter what, I am proud of this team and proud to be a Caniac. I like a lot of other teams, but I only wear a Caniac (or Checkers) jersey. In January, no one was sure they would even GET into the playoffs. Not only did they get into the playoffs, they won the series against two powerful teams, including the #1 seed in the Eastern conference. That says a lot about our guys, from Brind'amour to Ward, and I'm very grateful to them to have gotten us this far into the playoffs, no matter how this part of the series ends. I only wish I could give them all a hug and say "thanks!"

I only wish I could give them all a hug and say "thanks!" I agree Khabi, about the penalties and Crosby and the team. All I heard all year was how Carolina was the least penalized team in the league and I've seen that for myself over the last five years of following them. But I was curious to see how many penalties were called against them now that they were playing Pittsburgh, and my fears came true. That no matter what team played them, they were always at a disadvantage because of the Golden Boy. you can't go near him or touch him without a penalty. Gary Bettman made sure of that. I might sound bitter but being a Flyers fan too, we played them six times this year and it used to be eight so there is heated rivalry. but the guys couldn't even play their game for fear of always getting called. About the team, they played two grueling series and they are probably exhausted. I'm also proud of how far they've come and they are a fantastic team. Again, I hate to repeat myself but I follow two teams religiously and the Canes showed so much more heart and spunk this year than the Flyers. They are fast and they never give up. The big joke on the Flyers board about our guys is that they party too much and have no heart. Pictures have surfaced of Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Joffrey Lupul and others at Frat parties, with Porn stars, doing shots in vials and drinking right out of the bottle of Jack Daniels. Whereas your young guys like Eric Staal and Cam Ward are married and settled, these guys like to party hearty. So be proud of what they accomplished this year and it's not over yet. :rallyrag:
