First, wooo Timmy for the assist against Finland. Yeah, we lost but at least Timmy is OKAY after stupid Jokinen's hit. Ruu also scored in that game. Down to the final four now and the Canes are still well represented. Canada v. Sweden and Finland v. Russia.

Oh I'm so glad to hear Timmy is ok... stupid Jokinen! GO Ruuuuuuuu.. go Staal... go Cameron... go Nicki.. (did I miss anyone? lol) I was reading an article the other day that said if Staal can win the gold at Worlds and then go to the 2010 Olympics and win he would be one of only 19 NHL players to ever win what they called "NHL gold" in all areas of hockey... the Stanley Cup, Gold in the worlds and then Gold in the Olympics. Now that would be awesome!

Isn't it you? ;-) BTW...Sweden and Canada are now playing - Sweden has Wallin on their team. I wonder how weird it is to play against a teammate - or former teammate - when they play world championships??

Good point. I guess it would be no different than being traded.

Nope.. I'm certainly not the resident expert on where the guys started their young careers.. I wish I was. Yea, I would think it has to feel weird. Cam and Staal playing against Ruutu instead of with him... but I guess he is so new it can't be as strange as trying to play against Wallin.

Are you asking about E. Staal? Did he ever play in World Juniors? I'm certainly no expert, but I do have the right sites bookmarked to find the information relatively quickly. He won gold with the under-18 in the Six Nation contest in 01 and wore the A for the U-18 at Worlds in 01-02. That team finished 6th in the tournament. I'm pretty sure he went straight from the U-18s to the NHL.

I looked it up on Wikipedia - not the most reliable source all the time but they did say basically what you did Dewaltgirl....he was drafted and played the next year so no juniors.
