What I've seen of their rookie is pretty impressive. Finland's been turning out some excellent goalies (not as good as Russian goalies though Feel bad for Denis though. Hate to see any hockey player go on waivers.

I actually had not heard anything about Denis on waivers... but YES here is a link. www.sptimes.com/2007/12/29/Lightning/Out_of_favor_Denis_wa.shtmlI actually went to the Lightning/Habs game Thursday night. Holmqvist started and let in his 3rd at the beginning of the 2nd period. He was pulled in favor of Ramo who had started the night before. He let in 2 more and Holmie was back in during the 3rd. Ramo is not ready to take over, and Holmie is taking a beating by Torts--just like every other goalie who has come through this system. Even Khabi got trashed here when he had a bad night. I feel kind of bad for Ramo. If he doesn't have a thick enough skin, he is going to crumble.

What I have seen of Ramo he has been quite impressive. I'm with you though.. I hope he has some really thick skin. To be as young as he is and new to the NHL you know he has to be a huge bundle of nerves and having Torts screaming in your head won't help settle him down at all. Khabi I didn't realize he was from Finland!! What's with Torts playing musical goalies in that game anyway? Like that's good for their mental stability... lol lol

Maybe they should make a trade with Ottawa and get Emery - that would be interesting.

I was watching a piece on Emery yesterday on NHL tv... he's really in the doghouse with his team and his coach right now huh? Seems he has been throwing temper tantrums about not being the number 1... his coach said if he didn't straighten up there "would be consequences"...

They are also speculating that his wrist - he had surgery in the offseason - has not healed as well as he would like. He said yesterday that he is having trouble getting motivated on the ice and it is something he is going to have to work on. He was not really sure why he is not motivated.

I can't imagine Emery and Torts in the same room....talk about fireworks! Then again, maybe Torts needs someone with a bit more attitude and the ability to stand up to him when he is an ass.

Goalies are such strange creatures aren't they?? lol One of the reasons I love goalies so much is because of their oddness. That, and the pretty helmets... oh, yeah and the pretty boys :drool2: I do agree that I hope Torts doesn't ruin Ramo's future in the NHL with his constant harping and screaming. I liked his skill and I think he'll make a fine goalie in the future. Torts scares me, and I'm a fan of the Lightning as well as the Canes (they're my home town team, after all <G>). I'm wondering if Khabi left not only because of the better salary but just to get away from the ulcers he was getting in Tampa?

Wouldn't surprise me to hear that! Torts is just not a pleasant person.

Torts + Emery = National Enquirer cover story :catfight: I was watching a piece on Emery yesterday on NHL tv... he's really in the doghouse with his team and his coach right now huh? Seems he has been throwing temper tantrums about not being the number 1... his coach said if he didn't straighten up there "would be consequences"... Because the gentleman in my avatar plays for the Sens, I've been reading the online editions of the Ottawa Citizen and the Ottawa Sun every day of the last two seasons. Let's just say it this way: * The Emery situation is beyond freaky. (Come to think of it, so is Emery himself.) * If you -- or anyone else here -- wants to know more about it, PM me and I'll try to explain it in a nutshell. All I'll say is that I'm freakin' glad that my boy is being his wonderful studly self in net once again, and that his head coach and teammates apparently like playing for him. It's good karma in action, Gerber baby! Jan/GSBG

It seemed there was good karma when Gerbs was playing for the Canes, too. The boys apparently felt comfortable enough with him in net so they could go play in the other end of the rink and annoy whoever was in the other team's net.
And many congrats to Master Gerber for another shut out last night. Woo hoo!

Just thought I would add video of the 3rd goal of last night's TB game. Why add it to the goalie thread you might ask?? Well, because Mr. Smitty got the only assist....man I missed seeing this in TB. www.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?hlg=20072008,2,1081&event=T.B608
