I'm actually heading home for this, so I can watch it with Momma since she is hockey deprived.
And I'm moving this to the Game Day gushing, since it's actually a game.

I am going to watch as much as I can......my son is really excited about it and he will need his hockey fix too.
I wonder if Sid the Kid will play.

Thanks for moving it Mel, I debated.. but since it wasn't actually a Canes game I wasn't sure. Turncoat I thought I read on nhl.com this morning that he will be playing.

Nothing against St. Louis but there must have been someone more qualified this year.
Like JStaal or Spezza.

I will be going crazy because the announcers will be non stop talking about Lacavalier and St. Louis now. My vote would go to Simon Gagne, another Montreal native and he is having a great comeback year.

Well in a odd turn of events it seems our commissioner has decided if you have been chosen to play in the All Star game you MUST attend

The NHL says it will enforce an understanding that all players who decline to show after being named to the All-Star teams must miss at least one game before or one game after the All-Star weekend.
If so, Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom may be forced to sit the Red Wings next game if they don't immediately change their All-Star break plans and report to Montreal.

That is not fair to the players that are hurt. What if they want to relax at home and take it easy. Now they have to do all this media stuff and be asked the same questions over and over and they probably end up at parties, stay up late. It doesn't make sense, they are not going for a reason, let them decide. Isn't Lidstrom and Datsyuk hurt?

Gary Buttman,
You're an idiot. This is just more proof of that. YOU SUCK HARDCORE.
Leave the players alone because they hate you too.

Well just my two cents but I see it just the opposite. If the players are chosen they need to show up UNLESS they have been out injured enough that they couldn't play for their team leading up to the All Star Event.. they make tons of money and that should include promoting their sport IMO. Yea it would be nice to just go away on vacation instead of participating if you are chosen but I don't think that's the right thing for them to do. Good lord most of them don't have a darn thing hockey related to do from April until September isn't that long enough? It's a rare thing, but I actually agree with Bettman on this one.
