Heh, Mom couldn't hack it and went to bed at the end of the second OT. I'm glad I'm a trooper and stayed up.
PENS WIN! Hahahahhaa.

I'll admit I had every feeling in the world that Detroit was going to win and even asked my friend I'd been texting with why I was such a masochist to stay up watching when I knew it would hurt in the end. *hangshead* Sorry Pens.

Of course there was no way I was able to stay up to watch that entire game.. but same as you DG when I went to bed I thought surely the Wings would pull it out... the spouse was quite gleeful this morning in telling me that the Pens won in triple OT.. who would have though? LOL.. must have been a very stressful game to watch until the end for both teams fans.

I was up until the start of the second overtime and then had to get to bed. What a game...what a finish...from the highlights Detroit had afew good chances in the overtime to put it away but Fleury said NO!!!
BTW...my friend called the minister again and told him to pray that the Pens win tomorrow night.

You know you would think the Detroit fans would be smart enough not to start with the "we want the cup" chant.. don't they know you simply can NOT tempt the hockey gods??

I stayed up and watched the WHOLE game. Didn't get to bed until 1:30. I was not happy that the Red Wings pulled a "Flyers" and let Pittsburgh tie it up with what 37 seconds left. All they had to do was clear the puck down the ice or score in an empty net for an insurance goal.AAAAAGGGGGHHH! I hope it doesn't go to 7 games because I can't watch the game on Saturday, I have a graduation party to go to.
Was anybody else getting annoyed with "Doc" Emrick saying "Next goal wins"? He must have said that 20 times during the OT's.

Was anybody else getting annoyed with "Doc" Emrick saying "Next goal wins"? He must have said that 20 times during the OT's. Or any variation of "He had the Stanley Cup on his stick!" It was quite grating. I think MAF had the Force with him and may the Force be with him again tonight!

He was so annoying on both counts.

So... funny story...
Since I'm here in Florida, me and Mom decided to make the 30 minute drive to my hometown here. Itty bitty city called Niceville. While we were there, we stopped over to see some friends of ours: Jim, Tammy, and their daughters Stacy and Shelby.
The funny part? I can remember as a kid being over at their house and messing around with Jim about him having Pittsburgh Penguins stuff all over the place and how I didn't (and never would) like hockey. Karma. Go figure.
And guess what I was wearing when I went over there? My black Canes visor and ECF shirt. No, it wasn't planned. I didn't know I would be going over there today.
We both got a good laugh out of it and talked hockey for a while before Mom and I had to come back home to see the game.

Congrats to the Wings fans here.
My poor baby Pens. My poor Syd (Sid too). Hossa about killed me at the buzzer.. *sigh* Ryan Malone is my new hero.
eta* WTF? They can't be bothered to put him in the lineup until the 3rd game of the Finals but they throw him out for interviews after they lose the Cup? *hugsSyd* He handled it very well and is such a team player. If they'll play him more next year, I'm glad he still has a year left on his contract.
etam* haha at the new CT! Now I'm envisioning a vat of hunny and being all over Corvo. mmmmmm
