I will withhold judgment for the time being...but earning a point the first night is always a way to get off on the right foot.

Great article in the paper today about Joe and his hat trick yesterday... I'M SO PROUD!!!
Luke DeCock, Staff Writer RALEIGH - Joe Corvo spread his arms wide to receive the congratulations of his new teammates, but that was nothing compared to his smile. And that was after his second goal of the afternoon. His third prompted a sliding, fist-pumping celebration that his former teammates could only watch in stunned silence.
"Kind of a storybook ending," Corvo said, the smile still stapled to his face.
With his hat trick Sunday, Corvo lifted the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators in front of a sellout crowd that came to see two beloved former Hurricanes but watched the players who replaced them combine for four goals in their first game against their old team.
"That was something to see, no question," said Hurricanes center Eric Staal, who had three assists. "Any time someone plays against their old team and scores a hat trick, that's pretty amazing. I don't think that happens that often. The boys were pumped on the bench to see that."
Since the trade that sent Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore north on Feb. 11, the Hurricanes are 12-3-1. They recovered from Friday's 7-1 loss at the Buffalo Sabres with a hard-working win on Sunday.
Patrick Eaves, the fourth player in that trade, scored Carolina's first goal, his first in nine games with the Hurricanes, and Staal had three points -- for the fifth time in the past 10 games -- as the Canes answered Ottawa's opening goal with five of their own.
Coming off the loss in Buffalo that ended Carolina's five-game winning streak, it was exactly the kind of performance the Hurricanes needed.
Cam Ward stopped the final 15 shots he faced and needed to make only 16 saves on the afternoon as the Hurricanes outshot the Senators 32-17 and went 3-for-10 on the power play.
"We worked really hard for a long time and we kind of threw up a clunker there, but we bounced back," Hurricanes forward Scott Walker said. "It's how you bounce back."
Since joining the Hurricanes, Corvo has five goals and 15 points in 15 games, and the Carolina power play is averaging more than a goal per game after scoring six in the 15 games prior to his arrival.
While Stillman picked up an assist on Ottawa's first goal, Eaves and Corvo scored the next two for Carolina, both on the power play with Commodore in the penalty box, to give the Canes a 2-1 lead midway through the first period.
Walker made it 3-1 off a nice pass from Tim Gleason -- a Senators draft pick -- before Corvo teed up a shot that went past former Canes goalie Martin Gerber less than four minutes into the third period to put the game away.
At that point, it was hard to imagine the afternoon could get any better for Corvo and the Canes.
Then, with less than three minutes to play, Tuomo Ruutu fed Corvo on a two-on-one and Corvo put a move on Gerber for the hat trick.
"I've never scored three goals, and that second one was like a little cherry on top," Corvo said. "That one felt good. The third one felt the best."
Pandemonium ensued as Bryan Murray, who made the trade as the Senators' general manager before taking over as coach as well, watched from the visiting bench with a dyspeptic look on his face.
They called him "Uh oh Joe" in Ottawa, but the Hurricanes have nothing but good things to say about him. Sunday, Corvo made the Senators pay for their lack of faith.
"Their GM felt like he was doing the best for their team, and it's a business," Corvo said. "You just mark games like this on your calendar."

Gee, if nobody's claiming him I'll jump on board!! As long as it doesn't mean I have to give up anyone else. I love me some Corvo!
I'm pretty sure I ended up with a few decent pictures yesterday too. Anyone want to clone me so I can get caught up with them?
