Wow! I sure hope he doesn't get just a slap on the wrist. More and more people show a sheer lack of respect for others these days and I think if more kids and teens are held accountable for their actions early on, maybe the wouldn't grow up so messed up. But that just me.

There was an article in the local paper today about it and how they have notified the Pittsburgh police department.

I hope they take it seriously. You never know with how crazy people may be these days. Keep us posted on what you find.

Here is an update. Message was traced to a 17 year old kid. sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-o...p&type=lgnsPITTSBURGH (AP)—Police say they’ve traced an Internet death threat made against Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin to a 17-year-old boy. Pittsburgh Lt. Kevin Kraus says the boy lives in Chambersburg, which is about 125 miles east-southeast of Pittsburgh. Kraus says state police have talked to the boy, but no charges were immediately filed. The boy’s name wasn’t released because he’s a juvenile. The posting on a hockey message board read, “I’m killing Ovechkin. I’ll go to jail. I don’t care anymore.” The Capitals and Penguins play Game 4 in Pittsburgh on Friday night. The series continues in Washington with Game 5 on Saturday night.

Sometimes I am truly amazed at the stupid things people will say in a public forum.

Exactly! I mean really....don't people realize that their IP address is associated with their posts?
And sure, it's probably just a case of the dumbarse showing off, but this stuff gets taken seriously now...

I saw the play, since it was THE only game on. You can never tell if these players are embellishing on the act and then get caught and end up hurting themselves. But we'll never know and Gonchar was really hurting and Ovechkin said he didn't mean for it to end up like that. So we'll see what happens.

And now they are thinking of suspending him. He checks Jamie Heward into the boards questionably during a Lightning game and Heward leaves on a stretcher. No suspension there, not even considered. Sometimes it makes me wonder when calls like this are made, its going to favor who paid off who more. That and I think Bettman has some sort of "love" for Crosby.

It was a questionable hit but Ovie said that he 'meant' to hit Gonchar with his shoulder but Gonchar moved. You could tell though that Ovie felt a little bad about it. The TSN announcers also found that he wasn't himself after that - Ovie I mean.
I doubt there will be a suspension but you never know....apparently the Pens complained to the league already about the way he leaves the ice to make a hit.
